The Vision of the Tabernacle

Knowing God in Christ

Knowing Christ

In order to know Christ we must behold Him without any barrier between Him and us. Second Corinthians 3:18 says, “But we all with unveiled face, beholding and reflecting like a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord Spirit.” The ministers of the new covenant should be like the boards overlaid with gold in the Holy of Holies, which were beholding the ark and reflecting its image all the time. In the same way, we need to behold Christ face-to-face in order to reflect Him in our daily life. The more we behold Christ, the more we reflect Him and the more we know Him. In this way we will continually be transformed from glory to glory. Our transformation depends on how much we know Christ and how much we maintain a living, sweet, organic and real fellowship with Him.

Matthew 6:21 says, “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” The Lord Jesus as our treasure is immeasureable, but we must ask ourselves if we have really put Him in our heart. Have we taken Christ as the unique and central treasure in our life? If we do this, our heart will surely be turned to Him seeking to know Him more and more.

Generally, Christians know Him only as the Savior who delivered them from eternal perdition. This is correct, but it is very superficial. It is only one of many aspects of Christ which are presented to us for our enjoyment. He is the Savior, but He is also the Lord, the Ascended One, the Shepherd, the Bridegroom, the Head and dozens of other items. These are the unsearchable riches of Christ (Eph. 3:8) and we need to know them and apply them in order to have a rich and fruitful spiritual life. In this way, little by little, we will know Christ more and more and we will know how to live by Him (1 John 4:9) in order to express Him.
