God has given gifted men such as apostles and prophets to the church. These are the ones who perfect us, who give us direction. They are perfecting us, they are leading us, showing us this clear vision. Let us live this; let us gain this portion! Let us follow their lead. We need to be open to God and to be open to the saints. Sometimes young people come to have fellowship with me saying, “If the brothers fellowship with me, I feel that they are pressuring me. I cannot stand pressure!” Have you thought like this? Actually, they are leading us because they are in front of us. If we are going on together with the flock, we don’t feel any pressure. It’s when we stop that we will feel like the others are pushing us. Actually, they are pressing on but we are resisting.
All of us are different by nature. Some people are very fast and some are slow. When we say, “Everybody fast", the slow ones say, “I feel pressured.” When we say, “Everybody slow”, the fast ones say, “I feel pressured!” It doesn’t matter if we go fast or slow. It is not according to our nature. We are not the reference, Christ is the reference!
When I take my person as the reference, I will feel pressure on one side or another. We should never feel pressured again. We will feel the Lord’s leading. Sometimes I see parents trying to direct their children but the children are resisting. The father says, “Come, come” but the boy doesn’t want to come. The father is leading saying, “Son, let’s go!” We should not say, “No, I am not going!”
Hebrews 5:8-9 says, “Even though He was a Son, [He] learned obedience from the things which He suffered. And having been perfected, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation.” This is referring to the Lord Jesus. Here it says that He was perfected, not because there was imperfection in Him, but because He had to pass through a test. This test was a way to show that He was perfect and approved because He obeyed. He learned obedience from the things which He suffered, and having being perfected He became to all those who obey Him, the source of eternal salvation. Praise the Lord!
Isn’t this wonderful saints? Do you feel the need to be perfected; do you feel the need to be built up? Perfecting is for our functioning and our functioning is for the building up. Perfecting is for functioning and functioning is for all the things to become fact and reality to us. Through our perfecting we see where our failures are. For example: when there is something wrong with the motor and you take your car to the mechanic, does he give it right back when he fixes it? No! The mechanic tests the car first. If it is functioning, he will be able to see if the problem is fixed or not. If you don’t function, no one will know where your problems are. But when you function, then your problems will be exposed. Then you can be perfected and receive the help you need. If you don’t function, you won’t know what’s wrong and others won’t be able to help you. When the Lord comes back, He will “turn on” your “car” and He will see if the problems are fixed or not. If you make a lot of noise, the Lord will send you to the mechanic. Someone else may run smoothly and quietly, so the Lord will say that he can come into His rest. Where do you want to go? Do you want to go to the Lord’s rest or to the mechanic? So we need to be perfected.
When we look at you young people, we are filled with hope. You are more blessed than us older ones because you are still young. When we were young, we didn’t have as many riches, so your generation is better. You were chosen. Have you received a commitment from the Lord? You will turn this earth up side down. Are you going to do this individually? No! We are going to do this together! Jesus is Lord!
