The Purpose of the Universe

“Lord we are still depending on You. You are our king. You are the Head of the church. We are members of your body and we are here willing to do your will. You are the sovereign One, the One who commands all things. Your will must be done, so we give this meeting to You. Speak to us what is on Your heart.” We have come to the last message of this conference, entitled “For He Must Reign”. Everything that is recorded in the Bible has as a goal the kingdom of God. God is the authority in this universe.

Zech 12:1 says, “The burden of the word of Jehovah concerning Israel, thus declares Jehovah who stretches forth the heavens and lays the foundations of the earth and forms the spirit of man within him.” The heavens were stretched forth for the earth and the earth was founded for man. Man was the only creature that God created in a different way. God put a spirit in man. This verse shows us the importance of man. The entire universe and all the heavens were created for the earth to exist and the earth was created so that man could exist. In the creation of man, God formed the spirit of man within him. Have you realized that you are the center of creation? Not only you, but the spirit in you, the human spirit is the most important put of this universe.

Genesis 2:7 shows how God created man. It says, “Jehovah God formed man with the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul.” In other words, God formed man from the dust of the ground. Our body was formed from the dust of the ground and contains all the elements of the dust of the ground. When man dies his body goes back to the earth, back to the ground. But when God created man, He also breathed into his nostrils the breath of life. The breath of life in Hebrew is “neshama”. This same word in Hebrew is used in Proverbs 20:27 which reads, “The spirit of man is the lamp of Jehovah searching all the innermost parts of the inner being.” The Hebrew word translated “spirit” in this verse is also neshama. This means that when God breathed into man’s nostrils, when He breathed into this clay, it formed the spirit of man. The spirit of man was formed by the breath of God. We have in our being an organ that comes from the breath of God.
