A Young Person of this Generation Who Concludes this Age

Chapter 2

Be a Star in the Lord’s Hands

Scripture Reading: Rev. 2:1; 12:10-11; John 1:1; 1 John 1:1

Oh Lord Jesus! Amen! Hallelujah! Whoever here wants to be in the generation that will conclude this age say, “Amen!” Whoever here wants to be a star in the hands of the Lord say, “Amen! Hallelujah!” The Lord desires that we would be stars in His hands. This morning we saw a God in the book of Revelation who is desperate, a God who yells and uses a variety of voices, so that we can wake up, get up and go. Thank the Lord that we are here to hear this voice. If you have heard these voices say, “Amen!”

The God Who Is

Through this message God wants to find in each and every one of us a star that He can have in His hands. He wants to be able to count each one of us as a star. For this, beloved saints, we need to know the God who is. If you and I do not know the God who is, it will be very difficult to be such stars. A star is an overcomer; a star is someone who experiences the God who is. He is not the God who knows. He is the God who is, and He is the Word. God is light, God is Spirit, God is life, God is love. Hallelujah! You and I need to enjoy, experience, and live this God who is. He wants to be in us everything that we need. He is everything we need. Everything that we really need, God is!

See how God presents Himself in Revelation chapter 1. Rev. 1:4 says, “John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from Him who is and who was and who is coming, and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne.” When we experience the God who is, we turn into stars that shine.

Moses Met the God Who Is at the Burning Bush

Moses had an experience like this; his name signifies “saved from the waters.” The Lord separated Moses with the purpose of taking His people, who were captured and enslaved in Egypt, out from there. Moses was to take them out from Egypt to the good land of Canaan. Even though Moses was a Hebrew, God sovereignly arranged for him to be raised by Pharaoh’s daughter. After 40 years of studying the Egyptian literature and science, he tried to save the people of Israel. His first attempt of saving them was not successful because he did not know and had not yet experienced the God who is. In his first attempt, when he saw an Egyptian mistreating a Hebrew, he killed the Egyptian. The result, of someone trying to serve the Lord without first having experienced living by Him, is murder and death.

Moses needed an experience like John had on the island of Patmos. Moses’ “Patmos” was in a desert. After another 40 years of learning lessons, of being perfected, and of being worked on by God, God came to meet with him. Moses went near to speak with God, not by his own choice, but because he saw something extraordinary; he saw a bush burning that was not burned up by the fire. There God was able to speak with Moses.

Exodus 3:4–6 says, “And when Jehovah saw that he had turned aside to look, God called to him out of the midst of the thornbush and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here I am. And He said, Do not come near here. Remove your sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground. And He said, I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God.” Here we see that Moses spoke with God and began to know God through this fellowship; he touched the I AM!

After this fellowship, Moses was prepared to be the sent one of God, to rescue the children of Israel from Pharaoh’s hands. Moses said to God, “If I come to the children of Israel and say to them, The God of your fathers has sent me to you, and they say to me, What is His name? what shall I say to them?” (v. 13). Verse 14 continues, “And God said to Moses, I AM WHO I AM. And He said, Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, I AM has sent me to you.” Hallelujah! God Is! God is the I AM! When you meet this God, you can never be the same. We need to have an experience like this.
