The four great visions are not just the structure of the book of Revelation; they don’t just show us the condition of the world. We need to be impressed with the book of Revelation because it centers on God’s economy both with regards to the present world situation and what He will do in the future. We need to see the vision of the Lord walking today in the midst of the churches (Rev. 2:1). He is caring for the churches and pouring oil upon the lampstands. The Lord is the One who supplies us for the transformation we need. We all need to see the vision of the Lord Jesus walking in the midst of the churches and supplying the churches. At home in your daily living, you need to see that the Lord is supplying you. Every morning when you have fellowship with the Lord, you need to tell Him to supply you. You need to tell the Lord, “Lord, give me more life. Pour Your oil upon me. Oh Lord Jesus!”
Another vision that John saw was the throne of God, and the One administrating all things (Rev. 4:2). If you leave this meeting and you have still not seen the throne of God, then you have seen very little. The Lord needs to control our lives; He needs to establish His throne in us. He needs to administrate, take control of our lives because we are still so very rebellious. We need the throne to wake us up, to soften us. Many come to the meeting not knowing what they are doing here, not paying attention, and acting rebellious. This shows that we need the Lord to come to care for us, to come to set up His throne in our lives.
The third vision that John saw was the vision of the great Babylon, the things that contaminate us, the things that capture us. This is the material Babylon. From the religious side, we see some who are Christians just in appearance. It seems that such a one loves the Lord, bears the testimony of the Lord, and does the right things; but this is just the outward show of religious Babylon. We need to have the reality of being a Christian. We need to have the reality of one really loving the Lord, loving the church, and enjoying the Lord.
The material Babylon is aggressive. Technology is advancing more and more, and everything is moving at such a rapid speed; but everything is going to fall. Everything will fall! Because the great Babylon is falling, we need to be those that come out of her (Rev. 18:4).
The fourth vision that John saw was the vision of the New Jerusalem. The Lord is working in this universe. He is transforming us so that we can become the New Jerusalem. You may ask yourself, “Who am I?” But little by little, the Lord is working Himself into us. The Lord today is gaining a mass production and transforming His people, so that He may have an expression which will consummate in the New Jerusalem.
