A Young Person of this Generation Who Concludes this Age

Chapter 7

Walk in the Truth

Scripture Reading: 3 John 4, 13-14

The Way to Walk in Truth

Today the Lord wants to raise up a group of young people who will walk in the truth and who want to practice the word of God, a group who wants to please God. Third John 4 says, “I have no greater joy than these things, that I hear that my children are walking in the truth.” This is the conclusion of John’s organic ministry. God chose John and worked in him to give him the commission to finish the New Testament and to produce a generation who will conclude this age. We can be part of this generation as children as young people and as fathers. Our capacity is not important, but it is important to walk in the truth. What do we need to walk in the truth? What do we need to practice the word? The word is the truth and the word is God.

We know that we only have one way to walk in the truth, that is the way of the spirit. We need to be filled in the spirit. There is no greater joy than this, than to walk in the truth. This is to be filled in spirit. We need to be filled with the name of the Lord and with His word, filled to the point that we all overflow. All the meetings in the church life are for our overflowing.

Exercising Our Spirits

Our spirit is an organ, an organ that needs to be exercised. Just like the members in our body need exercise, so does our human spirit. If we want to be filled in spirit, we need to exercise our spirit. If we are not filled in the spirit, we cannot walk in the truth. As an example, we can look at the brothers and sisters that workout or do physical exercise. We can see in their experience that in order to be encouraged and motivated to exercise their bodies, they need to join a gym. At home it is very hard to exercise by ourselves so that we consistently get a good workout. When we go the gym we are surrounded by people who also want to exercise; we are in the proper environment to exercise. In the same way, we must seek to be in the meetings of the church. There we can be those who are encouraged and motivated to exercise our spirits.

John saw that the best way to lead the saints in the spirit is to be together with the saints. Many times we need to even move our physical body, to not just stand but also to move. We need to exercise our spirit! If we are not filled in spirit, we cannot walk in the truth and we will fall into a religious ritual. Many of us call on the name of the Lord, but we must also pray read the word of God and sing and speak the hymns. Psalms 96:1 says, “Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth.” The Lord enjoys new songs; He is always new. It is a wonderful thing to use the word of God to create new hymns. Many of the new songs come from the Spirit and from the present speaking of the Lord. They help us to live in the spirit and be filled. Praise the Lord that the meetings help us be filled in spirit.

We must be those who repent and confess our sins so that when the Lord comes back we will be ready to be raptured. First John 2:13-14 says, “I write to you, fathers, because you know Him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I write to you, young children, because you know the Father. I have written to you, fathers, because you know Him who is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong and the word of God abides in you and you have overcome the evil one.”
