A Young Person Who Makes a Difference!

Chapter 4

Those Who are Called

Scripture Reading: Heb. 11:8-10; Acts 7:1-2

In the previous chapter we saw where we are today: in the ark. Let's remain in the ark.

In this chapter, we will continue by looking at another person in Hebrews 11 who portrays those who do not backslide, those who do not shrink back. They are the ones who have faith and live by faith. Young one, you must say with boldness, "I have faith and I live by faith. I am not of those who shrink back". Hallelujah!

The God of Glory appeared to Abraham

Abraham was like that, he had faith and he was someone who lived by faith. However, he didn't have faith when he was born; instead, he learned to live by faith. Do you know how Abraham learned to live by faith? Every time the God of glory appeared to him, Abraham would learn how to live by faith a little more. Young one, we hope that as you read this book, God, the God of glory, will show Himself to you. Every time He appears to someone, that person's faith grows and is strengthened and he becomes strong and active. He will not be one of those who shrink back. He will not be one of those who gets discouraged, but one of those who advance. Even though we have failures and mistakes, when the God of glory appears to us, our faith is strengthened. You need to be someone who is always caring for God's appearing. The God of glory needs to appear to you and you need to have a vision of Him.

At the beginning of this chapter there are some verses that show us that God appeared to Abraham. We hope that you have read them. Let us look at some of these verses. Notice that in Hebrews 11, every time the author presents a new person, he begins by using the expression, "by faith". It is not by accident, by chance or by things of destiny, but by faith. Verse 8 that begins the account of Abraham also starts like this: "By faith Abraham, being called, obeyed to go out unto a place which he was to receive as an inheritance; and he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he dwelt as a foreigner in the land of promise as in a foreign land, making his home in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the fellow heirs of the same promise". Young one, think a little: Who are you? You are an heir of the promise. Then verse 17 also starts with the expression "by faith," but we will cover that later.

The God of glory appeared to Abraham and called him. Young one, every time the God of glory appears to you, He is calling you. Did the God of glory appear to you as you were reading this book? Have you heard His calling in these pages? Or are you so distracted, so occupied, that you have no time or attention to see the God of glory appearing to you?

God does not appear physically as He appeared to Abraham. He appears in your spirit because God is Spirit. So then, where should you be? You should be in your spirit. You need to turn to the spirit and exercise your spirit. When you do this you have a meeting with the God of glory. He appears to you and speaks to you. He calls you. Therefore, if you still have not heard God's calling or have not had His appearing, you need to exercise your spirit.

God's appearing does not happen once for all, nor does God's calling. God is always appearing and always calling. Young one, if it has been some time since God has appeared to you, something is wrong. If it has been some time since He has called you, something is wrong. You need to turn to your spirit and find out, "Lord, what is wrong in me? Why am I not seeing Your appearing? Why am I not hearing your calling?" Don't think that the God of glory appears only once, the first time you called on the Lord and that's it, it's over. It's not like that. You don't receive a diploma of God's appearing and calling, put it on your wall and it's over. No! God appears, appears and appears; and the more He appears, the more your faith is strengthened. Remember that faith is to walk by the things which we do not see.

Sometimes you have a very good experience with the Lord, maybe in the first or second day of a young people’s conference, and you believe that this is sufficient, and now you can rejoice. It's not like this. You need God to continue appearing, calling and speaking to you. The more He speaks to you, the more your faith grows and is strengthened and you learn more to live by that which you don't see, by the invisible God who appears to you.
