A Young Person Who Makes a Difference!

Those Who Run the Race with Endurance

God is Not Ashamed of Them

See what verse 16 says, "Therefore God is not ashamed of them, to be called their God." You had another options, but you preferred to go to a church meeting; you had other places to go, but you preferred to stay few days in a young people's conference, you could read other things, but you preferred to read the Bible; you could stay quiet, but you chose to give a testimony for the Lord. That's why God is not ashamed of you, "to be called your God".

Consider the case of the child who's parents were called by the school principal. The principal looked at the parents, looked at the student and asked, "Is this your son?" The school principal opened the report card and said, "I want to congratulate you. Your son is an excellent student."

The brothers who are in charge of the young people's conferences, the serving ones and coordinators and some of the brothers who take care of the young people in the local churches, are waiting to receive letters from their parents saying, "My son is changed after this conference—changed at school, at home and in the church. He changed! We asked him what happened, what did they do with him and he said that he saw something, he touched God." Young one, it's clear! Here it says, "God is not ashamed to be called their God." When a father goes to the school principal and is informed that his son is getting bad grades, that he played hooky, that he broke the window, that he was in a fight with another student, that he was drawing grafitti, and the principal asks him, "Is this your son?" The father certainly won't say, "No, I found him around." No father or mother would answer like that. They will say, "He's our son." But, how ashamed are they? What a terrible thing it is for the parents to be ashamed of their son!

When God mentioned these people in Hebrew 11, He was not ashamed of them. Do you want your name here? Do you want o be part of this team? Do you want to be part of this roster? They will enter in the field now: Abel pleased God; Enoch walked with God and set his mind on the things above; Noah received grace because he heard and obeyed the Lord's word; Abraham followed the God who appeared and spoke to him; Joseph fled from his youthful lusts and reigned; Moses was useful vessel to the Lord. Look at the list of those of whom God was not ashamed. Was it that God was not ashamed of them because they were perfect or because they were always right? No! God was not ashamed of them because they had a heart of repentance. When the light came to them, they humbled themselves, they cried, and they repented. This made them different.

Why is Cain not in that list? Is it because God didn't give any opportunity to him? Yes, God gave him opportunity. But the question is; did Cain repent? Why are Achan, Reuben and Simeon also not in that list? Because they didn't repent. Repentance is something marvellous. When a young person repents, God smiles, becomes happy and says, "There is still hope" and He is not ashamed of him. They obtained a good testimony that they pleased God with the result that God will give them with a reward. A reward is very important. We need to know what a reward is.

There was a young person whose parents had prepared a present to give to her which she had been dreaming about for a long time. But, one day before receiving the present, she decided to try to do something on her own to get it. Her parents knew that and they decided not to give the present to her. One year later, she repented about what she did, and her parents then decided to give her the present. This present was waiting for her since the last year, waiting for her repentance. This young one cried a lot; she realized the big mistake that she had made. Young one, the Lord is very close, so close that we can take possession of this reward.
