Chapter 1
Scripture Reading: John 1:1-3; 20:30-31
In these messages we are continuing to enjoy the organic study of John’s writings. In John 7:37-39, we see the feeling the Lord wants to produce in us. The Lord wants these words, which were prompted by the Spirit, to lead us to believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and thus we can have life in His name. He who believes into the Lord, as the Scripture said, out of his innermost being shall flow rivers of living water! These rivers flow throughout the earth. Beside and along these rivers we have cities. Cities are built up along these rivers. These rivers of living water are to bring life to the cities so the cities might shine as the testimony of Jesus Christ, and then the end will come.
This generation is not the generation of a glass of water but of rivers. It is not a generation of controversy. Let us not stay here discussing whether someone believes and someone else does not believe. We don’t need a conference to know whether someone believes or not. The rivers of living water are a clear, firm and strong testimony of ones who believe. When you see the rivers of living water, you know who believes. Wherever this river goes, all shall live. This is the generation that will end this age. This is the vision of the age that was given only by the Lord. He who believes, out of his innermost being shall flow rivers of living water.
Thank the Lord that we are already full of Spirit and enjoying. The eagle is not going to fly; it is already flying. But of course, to be able to fly you have to flap your wings. To continue flying you must continue flapping your wings. This is our burden, to continue flapping our wings, continuing to exercise so that we might go up; not only going up by flapping but riding the wind and the air currents. Not only going up but we must see the direction of the moving of the Spirit.
