What is to call on the Lord’s name? It is the exercise of faith, to believe to gain life. Every time you call on the Lord’s name you are exercising your faith. When you exercise your faith, you do not do it for nothing. You do it to gain life. Every time you call on the Lord’s name, you are exercising your faith. Among us, calling on the Lord must be even deeper. It is not an empty calling, but it is the exercise of faith. Oh Lord Jesus! Oh Lord Jesus! Oh Lord Jesus! This is an exercise of faith. Oh Lord Jesus! It is the exercise of faith to gain more life! Let us try to call with a strong spirit, not with an empty calling, but exercising your faith. When you are exercising your faith, you are exercising to believe, to gain life in this name! Let us try! Each one of us! Oh Lord Jesus! Oh Lord Jesus! Oh Lord Jesus! Oh Lord Jesus! This is not just any exercise. This name is not just any name. In this name there is life, the life of God, resurrection life.
How many young people have been in a situation when they are preaching the gospel without any mature saints to help, and faced a situation of illness, even demons, or something else unexpected? What would you do? Oh Lord Jesus! Oh Lord Jesus! Oh Lord Jesus! This calling on the Lord heals the sick. This calling resurrects dead people. Saints, God has sent us to preach the gospel. He gave us this wonderful name. This is an opportunity for us to experience the power of this name. We can learn how to call in our daily living, not just calling in a superficially way, but calling to bring dead people to life. Call to heal the sick and call for power to face any situation. This calling gives us life. Hallelujah!
John 6:1-4 say, “After these things Jesus went away across the Sea of Galilee, which is the Sea of Tiberias. And a great crowd followed Him, because they saw the signs which He did on those who were sick. And Jesus went up to the mountain and sat there with His disciples. Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was near.” Verse 4 seems to be out of the context, but later on I will explain. Verses 5 and 6 continue, “Jesus then lifting up His eyes and seeing that a great crowd was coming toward Him, said to Philip, Where shall we buy bread that these may eat? But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He was about to do. ”
What grain can you glean here? Why did John and only John put these details here? In Matthew 14 and Mark chapter 6 are records of the same event but they did not record that Jesus asked Philip, “Where shall we buy bread that these may eat? But this He said to test him.” Only John wrote this. Do you know why? John wrote like this so that we would believe, and that through believing we would receive life through His name. This is John’s purpose. He wasn’t concerned merely about writing about events, but he had the motivation and intention to show us the organic ministry, the ministry of life.
John shows us that Jesus used all situations, all kinds of events, and encounters with all different kinds of people to train His disciples. Jesus did not train them in a classroom. He trained them in an organic way in each situation. What does it mean? It means that up today, the Lord works in this way. When you go through a certain situation, be sure that the Lord is training you. He is perfecting you. Instead of complaining, “What bad luck. Why did Jesus give me the burden to feed this entire multitude in the wilderness in the middle of nowhere? I am out of here.” If I was Philip there, I would run away and I would complain. But brothers and sisters, in each situation, each event, Jesus wants to train you and me. You must see this.
