The church in Thessalonica did this. First Thessalonians 2:13 says, “And because of this we also thank God unceasingly that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but even as it truly is, the word of God, which also operates in you who believe.” When the Lord sends someone to speak for Him as a prophet, if you look at the prophet as a man, you will say, “Oh, this is just a man speaking” and you will not receive any benefit. But if you are able to recognize that it is God speaking, and you believe in the word, this word operates effectively in you.
Hebrews 4:2 says, “For indeed we have had the good news announced to us, even as they also; but the word heard did not profit them, not being mixed together with faith in those who heard.” They heard, but they did not use faith to believe and it did not profit them.
May this generation be one that does not despise the word of God. When the Lord speaks, we believe; and when we believe, this word is profitable to us. And this word carries out God’s work because this same word operates effectively in us. For this, saints, we are a generation who not only calls on the name of the Lord, not only exercises our spirit with this name, full of the Lord’s Spirit, but we are also filled with the word. We need a generation filled with the word of God. The word needs to be deposited richly in our being.
Colossians 3:16 says, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to God.” The word needs to dwell in us richly. Surely, the word is a Person living in us because a chair doesn’t live inside of us. A living person is one who dwells. So the Word is a living Person who dwells in us richly.
John 6:56-57 says, “He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me and I in him. As the living Father has sent Me and I live because of the Father, so he who eats Me, he also shall live because of Me.” This is the secret. The Lord fed on the Father. He lived by the Father. Because the Father lived, He also lived. Today we also feed on the Lord. He lives and we also live. He speaks; we hear and believe. We are fed and by this we live.
Verse 63 says, “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing.” This means that it is not a matter of eating the Lord’s physical flesh or of eating meat. “The words which I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.” First Corinthians 12:3 tells us that when we call on the Lord’s name we are in the spirit, and the Spirit gives us life. Here it tells us that when we get into the Lord’s words, these words bring us to the Spirit, and the Spirit gives us life.
The organic recovery has a pillar of Spirit and life. If someone says that the church life has other pillars, you can forget about those. The only pillars we have in the organic recovery are Christ and the church, Spirit and life, the name and the word, an open door and a little strength. We give the Spirit freedom to work. This is the organic recovery.
Our burden according to the burden at the end of chapter 6, is to show you young people the importance of the word so that no one despises your youth. Some will say, “You’re just young people jumping around. You don’t have any depth.” No, you have content. You have the word. This is not a word full of dead knowledge. On one hand, you need the judicial knowledge, but it is mainly for applying in an organic way. The logos word needs to be transformed into a rhema word. “The words which I have spoken to you”—these words are the rhema word. These are living words, organic words from the Lord at the very moment that He speaks to you. For this reason, when we hear a message, when we digest the Daily Food, when we digest a certain word with the saints, we need to exercise our spirit. We exercise our spirit, we digest the word, we read the word, we pray the word, calling on the Lord’s name, and this logos word becomes rhema. And when it becomes rhema, it becomes Spirit, and it is the Spirit who gives life. This is the organic recovery. I hope that from now on all two thousand young people who are here, will be people full of the word. Don’t even let a single week go by without being constituted with the word. Digest every word that is given. Be constituted, this is not to have big heads but to be living people, rich in the word, ready to minister. Be good ministers of Christ Jesus.
Psalms 68:11 says, “The Lord gives the command; The women who bear the glad tidings are a great host.” The Lord has given us His word. Great is the host of messengers of good news. The Lord spoke His words here and He gained a host here. He gained a host of messengers of His words. Do you want to be part of this host? Do you want to be a host that brings the good news to others? When the Lord speaks, we must be this host of messengers.
